Situation:
The rural hamlet of Forder is on the outskirts of the old fishing village of Cawsand, twinned with Kingsand, lying to the west of Plymouth Sound. The village, designated as a conservation area, is popular due to its pretty collection of old cottages and houses and is often referred to the most unspoilt settings of its type in the region. In nearby Kingsand and Cawsand there are various village shops, a variety of pubs, a sailing club, a gig club and slipway.

The Mount Edgcumbe Country Park lies on the tip of the Rame Peninsula where a variety of coastal and rural walks can be enjoyed through the deer park with delightful sea and coastal views. The Rame Peninsula is often referred to as the forgotten corner of Cornwall and is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. For the outdoor enthusiast there are many rural and coastal walks, various boating facilities and a number of popular bathing and surfing beaches.

There is a primary school at Fourlanesend, while the town of Torpoint which lies some six miles distance has further primary and secondary schooling. Torpoint town itself offers a range of shops, two supermarkets, doctors and dentists. From here you can access the city of Plymouth via the Torpoint Ferry where there is a city shopping centre, mainline railway links, airport and university. Alternatively, there is the passenger ferry running from Cremyll giving access to Stonehouse where there is a bus service into Plymouth city centre. An alternative route to Plymouth can be taken along the A38 and A374 across the Tamar Bridge.
